What did you think?

I found it disappointing. Basically, it just pissed me off anew that Firefly was canceled after 14 episodes.

Give it some time to get rolling. Nothing will ever be firefly again.

      WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Ahem. Don't I know it. Sigh

I thought it was alright... a decent second hour when paired with the "Sarah Connor Chronicles"

I liked it. I got my entertainment for that hour and can see the potential for the show & story development. <shrug>

I found it facinating especially with all the subtexts running through the episode. I think it will evolve to something truly interesting with time as long as Fox does get all stupid about it.

I think some people's excitment got so hyped up it would have been hard for anything to be as good as they wanted. Not dissing anyone I'm just saying it is hard to copy the same feel of Firefly especially when Dollhouse is in a lot of ways the oposite of Firefly, no strong interpersonal relationships, how could there be in the Dollhouse world? But I think we will see things happen over time Joss is just being very subtle.

<<as long as Fox doesn't get all stupid about it>>

        Key phrase.

I like it. I can see the potential. I'll give it a few more episodes before I offer any real critique however.

Really impressed w/ Eliza Dushku. This character is really hard because there is so many different personalities that she has to betray. She has no real base to connect to.

OK my OCD is kicking in and I must correct myself.

"personalities that she has to betray. " I meant portray <sigh> I mean honestly.

I liked the second episode, especially that they develop a relationship between her and her handler. Didn't like that she looked so clumsy in scenes where she was being pursued. She was designed to be a match for this guy. Would have thought she could run like gazelle.

"Didn't like that she looked so clumsy in scenes where she was being pursued. She was designed to be a match for this guy. Would have thought she could run like gazelle."

A somewhat harsh judgment, considering that she was running over rocks and through brush and trees, had a gash in her leg for much of the time, was on hallucinogens for part of the time, and was being hunted by a psychopath with a bow and arrow for the entire time.

      Just sayin'...

      :)

ah well, it reminds me of la femme nikita, without the rigor. josh weddon needs to go back to his ironic style . this sidaris style of bullets, bombs and babes, doesn't fit him. he can have the slightly strong female as in buffy with santos pancos partner but so far doll house needs a jolt before he loses his following.

A fellow from one of my other tribes posted this. Seemed on topic:

Eliza gives the lowdown on why the series got off to a slow start, and why it really takes off with episode 6. I believe her, and am optimistic that this show is going to be great:

    www.avclub.com/articles/e...shku,24418/

AVC: The show has gone through its share of delays and retooling. What was going on with it before, and what was done to work it out?

ED: We shot the first pilot, Joss did, in sort of a noir style, and I think first and foremost,Fox didn’t like that feel. So there were a few things they wanted different, and they wanted the story to unfold in different ways. It was a big deal for Fox, and they have a lot invested in the show, so absolutely their opinion matters. So we retooled it, and instead of doing a cut-and-paste job with the pilot and doing reshoots, Joss just sort of went, “I have an idea that I think that you’re looking for, so let me just reshoot a new pilot.”

AVC: It isn’t like Joss is some new kid on the block, though. He has a lot of shows under his belt, and he’s got this large cult following. Is it frustrating when you get that kind of feedback?

ED: Honestly, yes. I understand it from a business perspective, and from Fox’s view, but at the same time, we’ve now done 13 episodes, and people have said that the show took off once they finally realized that Joss is best off left alone to do his thing. That happens around episode six—six through 13 are just extraordinary. I love one, two, three, four, and five, but Joss’ first script that he did after the pilot is number six, which is called “Man On The Street,” and it is just unbelievable. From that point on, the world unfolds in Joss’ way, with Joss’ speed, and it’s really remarkable.

        Very welcome.

"the show took off once they finally realized that Joss is best off left alone to do his thing"

Jeez, after all he's put out and the great reception from the masses, why can't they get a clue to give the man some elbow space??

Very disappointed after the first episode, but I am warming to it. I wish someone would shoot the FBI guy properly - he irritates me.

You mean the guy trying to find the Dollhouse, right? I would've bet money that he was the same guy who played the little boy Timothy in the Star Trek: Next Gen episode "Hero Worship" (the kid who pretends to be an android like Data through the whole episode after his ship gets blown up and his parents are killed). But IMDB says they're different people. Does anyone know the episode I'm talking about? They look *just* like each other.

        www.imdb.com/name/nm0671886/

Doesn't show up on his IMDB page, but ya never know. He was a primary character in Battlestar Galactica, though (the new one that just ended).

Nah, it's not him. Here's the page for the kid:

          www.imdb.com/name/nm0364905/

Even so, though, they look so much alike I found myself thinking, "Maybe IMDB made a mistake..." They didn't, though. Apparently the kid went on to play for the Chicago Cubs.

IMDB does make mistakes from time to time, though. Linda Park ( www.imdb.com/name/nm0971133/ ), who played Hoshi on Enterprise, was featured in this week's episode of Life, but she doesn't appear in the IMDB entry for the episode ( www.imdb.com/title/tt1341316/ ), nor does that episode appear on her IMDB page. I know that it was her, though, because her name appears in the opening credits for that episode.

Yes, I have WAY too much time on my hands.

That's the one - Helo from BSG. Mind you, I found him irritating in BSG too, so maybe it is just him?

Apparently fox network did get really stupid about it, they interfered a lot with the first few episodes. I wasn't all that impressed, their all basically whores without memory. Tho I noticed as the story progresses the whole idea gets way better and way cooler. I've only watch up till episode 4 but 4 was the best I've seen so far in my opinion.

Wow - they are really in their stride now. I loved e7. They are getting more of the silly little inconsequential dialogue bits that I used to love in Buffy and Firefly.

In Eliza's delivery of at least one line, I thought I was watching Buffy!

Dollhouse has only recently started here in the UK, and I must say I am disappointed. I will keep with it, but I guess I just have very high expectations of Joss. I will look forward to Alan Tudyk's appearance. Serious Wash fan - Damn your sudden, but inevitable, betrayal!

                It really does get better.

It's no Firefly, though. Keeping that in mind, not trying to compare the two, may enhance your enjoyment.

Alan was hotter than hot in his role at the end of the season. I was pleasantly surprised by that. (I *love* Alan, but I'd never found him hot before.)
