hi guys, i'm new here but there is an effort to resurrect the series, if there can be enough interest developed. it isn't a network deal , totally independant ( and from what i've heard with wendons blessings). you can help by filling out the questionaire (www.fireflyseason2.com/index.asp). who knows, maybe we can help stick it to FOX...

Well I'm all for sticking it to Fox on general principles.

With some of the best of the crew dead I am not sure a Second season would be all that it could have been.

This web site has been around for over 3 years btw.

Yeah, wasn't it up before the movie?

I seem to remember it being posted here before...

look guys this is a series , people can be writen in and out all the time. besides the fact that losing crew now and then is more authentic, there are ways to write them back in . the flash back is great for that ( pulp fiction would have never been the hit it was in straight time line). or how about shepard book as a holograhm, ( personally there are tooooo many questions about his past to let it die in one season). or say wash had a twin brother (see jack higgins flight of eagles, just so you know where my inspiration comes from). and how about him being a pilot for the alliance in the secession war and he and zoe just don't connect (even tho they both loved wash). see there can be some very interesting consequences in both real time and flash back. fox has done some stupid things but cancelling firefly was one of the worst.

yeah it is kinda lame, but suppose this, after haven is laid waste and the shepard dies , kaylee finds his journal while preping the ship for miranda. a whole lot of ideas could be explored in flashback. including but not limited to the "chance encounter on persephone". there are so many ways to go, is he a vilian, hero, spook or what...and it could all be done in a sequence of kaylee reading it after completing work...

I know. How 'bout we let the actors and crew go on with what they're doing in their professional careers, and IF there's a chance for another run of the series (which, btw, would have happened already if it was meant to) let them put it together.

ah well your probably right jose, we should just roll over and take the programing they give us, cause after all they do know what we really like. the thought has occurred to me that maybe the actors or joss don't want to do a sequel or a #2. there are those that get type cast in certain roles and can't break out of the mold. ( and as it stands joss doesn't think it is in the cards) . so the chances are slim and none cause it all boils down to marketing , what sells rules. if the advertisers are happy so are the nets. so like it or not king sooper and wal mart can dictate what we see, hear , eat or do. yes again if it was going to happen it would have already, so who cares. i know what i like , firefly and farscape where among my favs. those where the only hold that fox exerted over me, now i don't watch it. the same was true of cbs news some years back, now the nets have completely alienated me, and the boob tube has a layer of dust. and if a bunch of you would do the same you wouldn't have to settle for shit like friends. so it maybe an impossible dream, but atleast it is a dream, ching wah...

Well, Dor. You sure told me! You're right, it's totally my fault the show got canceled and won't come back! Ive killed the dream! It was me!! Curse my soul to eternal damnation...poor, poor Firefly...we hardly knew ye.

Look, I just think that particular website qualifies as beating a dead horse. I mean, come on, it's been around for a long time, and still hasn't done anything...you know how I know? I registered for it when it first came up....and never really got anything from them about the progress they were making. I'm as much of a fan as the next guy, but, I also know when to call it quits. Would I be excited if Joss Whedon & the cast showed up at Con and said we're gonna start a new season? Of course. But my life, nor my opinion of the television I do watch, will be less for them not continuing the franchise.

There are plenty of quality programs out there that are well worth watching and supporting, but don't get the support they need, and so sink into oblivion, without much fanfare.

But you're right, if you don't like what's out there, don't watch, it's really that simple.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I need to get back to being told what to do by the corporate overlords...

wow, dor -- way to take it to negativeland.

personally, while i'd love to see more content from the 'verse (and given that joss and the cast have all expressed their desire to do more in that story), i'm totally psyched to see, for example, Drive. That's the new Tim Minear (Firefly co-producer) show, starts next month, starring Nathan Fillion. Or the next movie in the Terminator series, with Summer Glau. Not so psyched to see Gina Torres' new movie, but that's because I usually find Chris Rock annoying as hell. i also loved watching The Inside -- exec produced by Minear, Adam Baldwin was one of the actors, and once again cancelled too soon.

<< firefly and farscape where among my favs. those where the only hold that fox exerted over me, now i don't watch it >>

farscape wasn't on fox, last i checked.

by the way, what's the deal with your obvious hatred of friends? do you really think that the folks who frequent a firefly tribe are likely to be huge fans of friends? and, even if they are, what should that matter. we all share a love of firefly -- who cares if someone also likes something you disapprove of? what value is there in denigrating fellow browncoats?

ah stu and jose, de gustibus non est disputandum, sorry for making you uncompfy. if you like friends , go for it. i just used it as an example . now if you want to say that the writting for friend is on the same par as firefly or even farscape then i must disagree. but if someone wants to watch drivel , even in the sci fi realm , say like buck rodgers in the 21st centry, it's not my place to say no. oh and your right about farscape not being on fox. i just mentioned it cause i loved the ironic situations they came up with, and it was one of the things that made me watch tv. so ching wah, if you want to watch bev hils90210, or family guy, or what ever again, de gustibus non est disputandum...

It's definitely not just Stuart and Jose. This isn't about defending "Friends." It's about how you - perhaps unwittingly - came off as a pompous ass in that post. Even your throwaway use of "drivel" in this last one smacks of desperation to convince us that you are so very discriminating in your tastes, as though we need your approval of our own tastes. Well, we don't. Mmkay?

Look -- generally speaking, people don't respond well to "high and mighty." Being so critical of others invites criticism of yourself, so be aware of that. Even things like your spelling and grammar are fair game when you create a persona where those who disagree with you are somehow lesser beings.
