new to this tribe. happy i looked for it. it's a shame and a half that this series is off the air, 2 episodes from completing the first season. it's not at all eye-catching as most sci-fi on tv, but it did when an emmy, and i find the character development captivating. but enough about that. i'm sure most agree. at least i hope you do.
my point to posting is if you get hulu.com they have the whole season for viewing. if you like watching shows online for free, submit a request to hulu. i think mine took about a week to gain approval. otherwise, it might be on either aol or yahoo tv.
is the movie "serenity" the same? actors? i'll look it up, but i'd like a good opinion on how it ranks compared to the series.

Yes, the movie has all the orginial actors which is great. With surprises. The series and the movie were an unique experience that can be viewed over and over again thanks to online buying of DVDs. But took me awhile to review the movie due to the surprises.

Glad you're enjoying the series -- and while it *is* a shame that there's only that one-season out there... it has really made for some VERY strong followers of the show ... and it never suffered from the 'sophomore curse' of falling down or giving us any really BAD episodes to whimper about.
Yes, the film, "Serenity" is in essense the sequel to that first season of tv-shows... it answers a lot of the questions we were left with... it has all the same cast members (at least as far as the crew goes... the recurring secondary characters like Badger didn't make the cut) ... if you're a hard-core fan... go out to a local bookstore and see if you can find a comic-book graphic novel "Those Left Behind" -- which fills in the blanks between the tv-series and the movie. -

01/06has sci-fi channel ever thought about picking it up? the production standards might be too high, but it seems right up their alley.
plus, kinda like family guy's resurgence on cartoon network maybe the fan base will make demographic sense? maybe not.
i'll start looking for the video online after i finish the series...which will probably be in the next 43 minutes. it's getting so much better, i'm a little miffed that it has to end so soon. -

01/06There have been numerous campaigns (including by Joss Whedon himself) to get it restarted, but nothing came of them beyond the film. That didn't do so well at the box office, but in the intervening years, the Serenity DVD has sold extremely well (as has the series), and Firefly fandom has grown at an enormous rate.
Nothing is planned at the moment, but given how much Whedon and the actors all loved the show, I still believe it's inevitable that something like a TV movie or miniseries will be made at some point. Like Star Trek, it will be back... -
